Making Healthier Choices: A Lifestyle Change Journey
As part of my commitment to a healthier lifestyle, I’ve been working on changing my eating habits. I’ve been dealing with Hashimoto’s (an autoimmune disease) and have nodules on my thyroid, which has made it clear that I need to focus on better nutrition for my overall well-being.
Breakfast Changes:
Breakfast used to be something I skipped, but now I’ve made it a priority. For the longest time, I would just grab cereal because it was quick and easy, but I realized that it wasn’t doing me any favors. Lately, I’ve been having eggs, toast, and fruits like apples and oranges for breakfast, and I’m finding it to be much more satisfying. These meals are filling enough that I no longer feel the need to snack, but if I do get hungry, I reach for healthier snacks like fruit.
I’ve realized that eating healthier foods makes my body feel better, and I’m focusing on that as I continue to improve my eating habits. I’m aiming to cook at home more and eat at real sit-down restaurants instead of relying on fast food.
Switching Up Fruits and Veggies:
One thing I’ve noticed is that I get bored with eating the same foods, so I’m switching up the fruits and vegetables I eat every week. This keeps things fresh and interesting! I also used to buy different foods daily for snacks, since I live within walking distance of a grocery store, but I found it’s easier for me to plan ahead and buy two different fruits and two different vegetables each week.
Monthly Restaurant Adventures:
I’ve also decided to make it a goal to go out and try a new restaurant once a month. Since there aren’t many places near us, this will give us a chance to explore new spots and get out of the house. Hopefully, we’ll discover some hidden gems along the way!
I might even create a new section on my blog to track the restaurants we visit and share my experiences with you all. Stay tuned!
